Lomi Lomi Massage

an indigenous Hawaiian healing practice

Lomi Lomi is an indigenous Hawaiian healing practice which usually includes massage. Many believe that this beautiful art, so deeply infused with the practice of ‘living aloha’ is a carry-over from ancient Hawaii. Lomi Lomi was practised by the native healers and used as a restorative health practice within families.

Helena offers “Temple Style” Lomi Massage, which is also known as Kahuna Bodywork.  Forearms, elbows, wrists and hands, move continuously over and under the body in a fluid, rhythmic motion, working gently yet deeply into the muscles. The movements are designed to confuse the thinking mind and invite the client to surrender, letting go of anything that is no longer serving them. The strokes are described as an endless ebb & flow of gentle waves, making it hard to tell where one stroke begins and ends. It is nurturing, grounding and enables stuck energy to flow, a profoundly relaxing experience that is like no other.

Helena provides a non-judgemental space that allows her clients to feel safe and honoured.  A moment in time, to be fully present. To completely surrender, allowing emotional, physical and spiritual healing to occur.  The circular, flowing movements and figure-eights, stimulate the right and left brain alternatively, discharging the nervous system and encouraging buried cellular memories, letting go of old patterns and behaviours that lead to an overwhelmed mindbody system.

She works intuitively with your body, with fluid, rhythmic strokes to release and shift tensions. There is no set format for the massage itself, so no two Hawaiian massages are the same. The treatment can be slow and relaxing or faster and more invigorating, depending on how the body responds.

Draping

Draping is always respectful; no part of the body is ever unnecessarily exposed. Your body is covered at all times with a lava lava, sarong or towels, except for the area being worked on. For those who have questions or concerns about the draping, it can always be modified to satisfy you.
